Hassan-Mangalore Railway Signal Upgrade: Possibility Of More Passenger Trains Soon

September 10: Signaling system upgrading work on the Sakleshpur section of the Hassan-Mangalore Railway line will be completed soon and will accommodate large number of passenger trains. In this backdrop, there has been a demand from coastal railway to increase passenger train traffic on the Mangalore-Hassan-Bangalore route. Once the signal is upgraded in the Sakleshpur area, it will be capable of moving 20 trains daily. A total of 13 trains, including passengers and goods, currently operate on this route.
Out of 13 trains, only 5 are passenger trains. After the latest signal insertion, there is a chance for more than 7 trains per day. Several years of continuous demand by the people of the coastal belt and the railway workers’ organizations to open more trains to other parts of the country, including Bangalore, has now come to the fore.
