Health Department in Dakshina Kannada is Planning to Increase The Number of Namma Clinics: Good Decision
The health department in Dakshina Kannada is planning to increase the number of Namma Clinics in the district due to the positive response. Currently, the district has 12 Namma Clinics providing health services. Each centre is equipped with a doctor, paramedic, nurse, and a Group D employee offering basic diagnostic services and medicines free of charge. The number of patients visiting Namma Clinics for consultation has increased considerably.
DHO Dr Thimmaiah HR said that the government has plans to extend the services of Namma Clinics to town panchayat limits. A proposal to open Namma Clinics in Kotekar, Bajpe, Mulki, Vittal and Kinnigoli has been submitted to the government.
At present, Namma Clinics are functioning in Sooterpete, Boloor, Bunder, Pachanady, Kodikal, Kunjathbail and Meenakaliya in Mangalore City Corporation limits, Duggaladka in Sullia, Gantalkatte in Moodbidri, Kerebailu in Ullal, Kodimbala in Kadaba and Bannur in Puttur.
Patients with severe health problems are referred to specialty government hospitals or nearby primary health centres (PHCs) or other government hospitals.
