Heavy Rain in Mangalore from Past Two Days: Will There be Flood Like Situation Again?

September 4: Orange alert had been declared in Dakshina Kannada District for four days since Monday. As per the prediction of the meteorological department, the coastal area is expected to get heavy rainfall till Thursday, September 5.
The fishermen are also advised to be cautious, as wind velocity is expected to reach 40 to 50 km per hour during this period.
Continues rain poses a threat to the low lying areas in the city and nearby areas. There is a risk of flood and landslide at charmady ghat section which may even lead to disruption of traffic movement.
Mangalore city has experienced floods due to heavy rain in the month of August. There is a risk of floods in the city if the rain continues for few more days.
