Increase in Demand For Water In Mangalore: MCC Seeks Land For New Dam at Thumbe
January 1: Mangalore City Corporation has urged the State government to allot 10 acres of government land for supplying drinking water from the new dam at Adyar. A new dam is being constructed downstream of the new dam at Thumbe. This will help augmentation of water storage between the two dams at Thumbe and Adyar
MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar said that he wrote to the Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner requesting reservation of 10 acres on survey number 57. The land is required to set up facilities to meet the future demand of water in the city. The corporation commissioner sought the land after obtaining a technical opinion from K.P. Jayaram, Individual Consultant, Regional Project Management Unit, Karnataka Integrated Urban Water Management Investment Program (KIUWMIP), under Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC).
