Is over-speeding the reason for aircraft from Dubai to Mangalore to slide from runway?
July 2: The Air India flight from Dubai to Mangalore carrying 83 passengers and crew on Sunday, lost its control and changed its direction from runway and landed on uneven ground at the Mangalore International Airport. Even though no one was harmed in the incident, an in-depth probe began on Monday to check the circumstances that led the flight to lose its control.
The probe has been started by the officials from Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Air India Express. A preliminary investigation revealed that over-speeding could be the reason for the flight to slip and veer onto the uneven ground.
Sources reveal that the flight operations have remained unaffected as they have continued to operate flights between India and Dubai with a spare aircraft.
District In-charge Minister U T Khader said that the incident shouldn’t be taken lightly and the DGCA should reveal whether the incident happened due to the fault of pilot, the aircraft or the airport.
