Local Residents Experience Minor Tremors in Sullia: Few Buildings Develop Cracks

People in Sullia taluk of Dakshina Kannada district felt mild tremors on June 25 morning 9.10 am for about 45 seconds. Tremors was experienced by the residents of Sullia, Markanja, Kallungundi, Sampaje, Peraje, Aranthodu, Ivarnadu, Thodikana and Goonadka. Walls of some houses suffered cracks. Tin sheets that were put on the roof of the houses also wobbled.

The tremor had an intensity of 2.7 magnitude on the Richter Scale, according to the district administration. The epicentre of the earthquake was located 4.7 km northwest of Karike Gram Panchayat, Madikeri taluk, Kodagu district, bordering Dakshina Kannada.
