Low Pressure Area Over Arabian Sea: Heavy Rain Expected in Coastal Districts Till May 16

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), on May 10, issued a forecast indicating the possible development of a cyclone in the Arabian Sea. The cyclone named Tauktae is being created due to the fall in the atmospheric pressure in northwest region in the Arabian Sea. Heavy rainfall alerts have been issued for the Lakshadweep Islands on May 13 to May 15 in addition to a tidal wave warning. Parts of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka are likely to receive widespread to isolated heavy rainfall on May 14 and May 15.
Yellow alert has been issued as Udupi, Dakshina Kannada and Uttara Kannada districts are likely to get rainfall till May 16.
