February 22: Man stands for 3 hours on the Mangalore-Kochi National Highway, near the Nethravath bridge for more than three hours, holding a placard not to dump waste into the river.
43 year old Nagaraj Raghav Anchan who is the coordinator of ocean plastic recycling, Hasirudala said that that during a survey he found the area near Kallapu bus stand as one of the hotspot for the dumping of garbage. People travelling towards Mangalore from surrounding areas carry waste when travelling in a vehicle and throw it away at this point.
Dumping garbage at least as long as he is there has stopped but few people manage to throw garbage late at night. Nagaraj said that urban local body has been requested to install CCTV cameras at this spot, to check on people  who are dumping waste so that they can be caught red-handed and penalised.
