Mangalore Airports Sets a New Record: Footfall of Total 1.67L Passengers Witnessed in May

Mangalore International Airport has hit a new record in May, in terms of both domestic and international flights and passengers. In May, the MIA witnessed a total 1,67,180 passengers, an increase of 21,000 passengers, compared to April. The domestic movement of passengers increased to 1.15 lakh (1.3 lakh in April), and 51,894 international passengers flew from the airport in May, which was 42,000 in April. Meanwhile, flights operating from the airport increased to 1,313 in May.

Flights on some routes, which were stopped due to the pandemic, have resumed. Some fliers take domestic flights, to catch flights from other cities, to international destinations. In May, MIA introduced only one new flight to Hubballi. Meanwhile, the movement of international passengers too has seen a substantial increase. It has almost grown two-fold, compared to January 2022, when there was a movement of 28,364 passengers and 248 flights.
