Mangalore Central & Junction Railway Stations Selected For Union Government Scheme
The 19 railway stations of Palghat section have been selected for the ‘One Station, One Product’ scheme that was announced in the union budget for 2022-23. Mangalore Junction, Mangalore Central are among the 19 stations.
The scheme provides market for local produce and has given a new lease of life for the local artisans. The artisans can sell their product on the platform as well as inside the campus of the railway station. They have to pay Rs 500 as fee for their shops or space occupied. This scheme was started at Tirupati railway station for the first time and later implemented in Krantiveera Sangoli Rayanna railway station and Mysuru railway stations. Now both the Central and Junction railways stations of Mangalore are selected for this scheme.
