Mangalore City Buses penalized for using Shrill Horns!
Mangalore March 5: Mangalore city buses were penalized for using shrill horns,the Mangalore City Traffic Police on Tuesday, March 5 booked 112 case. A fine of 11200 was penalized on the offenders.
Voice measuring devices were used by the cops to check the decibel levels and later removed the horns which violated the traffic norms.
This move by Traffic department was needed with several people complaining on noise pollution, especially the buses that use shrill horns which is major cause for noise pollution.
We can also note that an initiative by Mangalore South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has been started in January to reduce noise pollution. There is a NO HORN WEDNESDAY movement going on in Mangalore which is getting good response from Mangloreans.
The police also booked cases against motorists whose brake lights were not functioning. Penalty was charged for this violation.
