Mangalore City Corporation to Cancel License of Street Vendors Who Have Still Occupied Roads
Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has invested substantial funds to establish a street vending zone adjacent to the State Bank bus stand in the city, but the occupancy rate remains below 10% among vendors holding official identity cards issued by the corporation.
Mayor Manoj Kumar confirmed that the MCC issued notices to street vendors who have not relocated to the designated vending zone near the State Bank area. He said that the city corporation issued permission to 114 street vendors to conduct business at the designated area. They are not allowed to conduct business by the side of the road in the city, especially near the State Bank bus stand and Lady Goschen Hospital area.
The notices have already been issued, warning about the cancellation of their identity cards. Meanwhile, drives will continue to vacate unauthorised street vending in the city.
