Mangalore City Police In Action: Cracks Down Illegal Sand Mining & Drugs

August 19: Mangalore city police has cracked down on illegal sand mining and drugs in a big way in July and August. City Police Commissioner Vikash Kumar stated that raids carried out within the police limits and registered 13 cases and arrested 10 persons for illegal mining, storage, and transportation of sand and also seized 14 vehicles used to transport sand Along with two dredging machines. The total value of property seized by the jurisdictional police in these cases is Rs 71.3 lakh.
Along with this, action was initiated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), where police registered six cases and arrested 10 persons for possession and sale of drugs valued at Rs 14.8 lakh.
