Mangalore City Police Take up Various Activities on Traffic & Drug-Related Issues in The City
Mangalore City police commissioner Kuldeep Kumar R Jain said that Mangalore City police have taken up various activities, including interactions with college students, the public and youth meetings, to strengthen community policing. The department is reaching out to colleges to spread awareness on traffic and drug-related issues. Students are told about the importance of following traffic discipline and how people can be responsible on the road.
Awareness programmes in colleges will start in a big way from June. A station-wise strategy has been devised. Senior officers will also visit the colleges and engage the youth in the sessions. Any college can approach the department that is willing to reach out to the students at a convenient time and place and make students more aware about their surroundings.
Meanwhile, police personnel are also reaching out to the public on the road. The staff travelling in Hoysala vehicles speak about the importance of the Emergency Response Support System (ERSS) 112. The highway patrol vehicles are spreading awareness with regard to traffic discipline. About 25 vehicles in Mangalore city commissionerate limits are trying to engage with a group of at least 10 people.
