Mangalore International Airport Likely to Double EVs & Charging Stations by March 2023

Mangalore International Airport had procured two electric powered SUVs lately and will include third & fourth EV to its fleet by end of this fiscal. MIA that recently commissioned an EV charging station in the parking lot on the landside, will set up a similar facility on the airside. This second EV charging station will be made operational by end of this fiscal. The airport has engaged vehicle manufacturing companies to purchase a suitable EV for its airside operation. The airport is using two regular SUVs to offer ‘Follow Me’ services on the airside. One of these SUVs will be replaced with an electric SUV.

The airport has decided to allow EV owners to charge their vehicles free of cost at the airport from 10-24th August. Touted the ‘FREEdom Charge’, the airport has made this offer to celebrate ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’. The offer will certainly reassure EV owners coming to this #GatewayToGoodness that their vehicles leave MIA ‘fully charged’.
