Mangalore International Airport will be handled by Adani Group for next 50 years

July 4: The Union Cabinet on Wednesday approved the leasing out of  Mangalore, Ahmedabad and Lucknow airports through public private partnership (PPP), like the airports in Mumbai and Delhi to the highest bidder — Adani Enterprises  for operation, management and development for a lease period of 50 years.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) had invited bids for the same in December 2018 and Gautam Adani infra major Adani Group had emerged as the highest bidder for all the six airports.
Union minister Prakash Javadekar said that these projects will bring efficiency in delivery, expertise, enterprise and professionalism and will enhance revenues to the AAI.
The AAI has opted for a new model of revenue generation from these Airports. the operator of these Airports will have to pay the authority, on a monthly basis, a fee in respect of each passenger handled at the airport which is Rs 177 for Ahmedabad, Rs 171 for Lucknow and Rs 115 for Mangalore.
