Mangalore Police Commissioner Issues Guidelines For Upcoming Festivals Ganesh Chaturthi & Eid Milad

Ganesh Chaturthi will be celebrated from Sept 6 to 17, with idols installed at 165 locations within Mangalore police commissionerate limits whereas Eid Milad will be observed on September 15 and 16. The festivals will involve processions in areas classified as 22 hypersensitive, 64 sensitive and 79 normal.

Mangalore City Police commissioner Anupam Agrawal has urged residents of Mangalore to celebrate the upcoming Ganesh Chaturthi and Eid Milad festivals peacefully, adhering strictly to all issued guidelines. 1x1 pollsThe police commissioner said that the organisers must obtain permissions from Mescom, fire and emergency services, local bodies and landowners where the idols are installed.

Further, police have directed organisers to erect pandals with safety precautions against wind, rain and fire. Keep fire-fighting equipment like sand, water buckets and fire extinguishers ready. Avoid inflammable materials near lamps inside the Ganesha mantapa. Details of the main guests and their contact numbers with local police. Permissions from local bodies are required for flexes and banners, which must not contain provocative content. Tableaux and dance performances should respect all religious sentiments. DJs are not allowed. The use of firecrackers has been banned near hospitals and populated areas after 10 pm. Permission must be obtained from police for idol immersion processions and to follow designated routes.
