Mangalore South MLA Vedavyas Kamath Urges Government to Declare Ganesh Chaturthi Holiday on September 19
As per the government holiday list, September 18 has been declared as a holiday for Ganesha Chaturthi. However, everyone is celebrating the festival on September 19. Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has urged the government, to declare the Ganesha Chaturthi holiday on September 19. The festival is one of the most important ones for Hindus and hence it is important that a holiday is declared on that day, said MLA Kamath. The government should consider September 18 as a working day and declare a holiday on the day the festival is observed,” he added.
Meanwhile, a delegation of the Vishva Hindu Parishad (VHP) led by Sharan Pumpwell submitted a memorandum to the DC urging to declare September 19 as a government holiday instead of September 18.
