Mangalore to Get Smart Parking System at Twelve Locations: This is How it Will Work

Mangalore Smart City Limited (MSCL) is in the process of introducing 12 smart parking system where vehicle drivers can even pre-book their parking lots online through the mobile app. Citizens will soon have to pay for smart parking spaces at 12 locations across Mangalore city.

Mangalore Smart City Limited general manager (technical) Arun Prabha KS said that the MSCL is planning to introduce the facility Mission Street Road, Nellikai Road, Rosario Church Road, Pandeshwar Road, KMC Mercara Road, Light House Hill Road, Hampankatta Road, KRR Road, Ambedkar Circle- Arya Samaj Road, Mangaladevi Temple Road, GHS Road and PM Rao Road. However, the final decision will be made after consulting the Mangalore City police and Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). The parking lots for 280 four-wheelers have been identified and the MCC has to draw a parking policy, he said.

Through the app, the user can check the available parking lots in that particular area. Currently, MSCL is working on a process that allows users to pay via phone and credit card. The MCC will have data on parking lot usage online. Additionally, the public will be able to find the nearest parking space while they travel. This is open roadside parking that will work based on cameras. The project will be ready and implemented in the next four months through the webpage: 1touchmangaluru.com.
