Mangalore will not have Flex, Hoarding, this Festival Season: Here is the Reason

August 8: The use of flex boards, plastic banners and buntings has been banned in Mangalore city during this festive season and action will be taken against the violators by Mangalore City Corporation (MCC). The civic body has warned of booking criminal cases against the violators.
Putting up flex and banners, buntings, hoardings, cut-outs, signboards and hoardings welcoming devotees for the festivals has become a common practice in Mangalore. These materials are usually put up at major junctions, by various organisations, institutions and individuals during Ganesha Chaturthi, Krishnashtami and Dasara.
MCC has issued a circular directing revenue officials to strictly enforce the plastic ban. MCC commissioner Mohammed Nazeer said that a criminal cases will be filed against those who illegally put up flex, banners, hoardings, cut-outs, buntings, signboards and hoardings. The commissioner also mentioned that organisers, cinema producers, and social, religious and political organisations put up their publicity materials in the city due to which the city is loses its beauty and this is a major set back for Swachh Mangalore concept. Therefore a drive will be launched by MCC against all such illegal publicity materials. He also added that the MCC officials will take measures to remove such materials and penalise the organisers.
