Massive Landslide Near Kulshekar: Mangalore Junction-Mumbai Railway Line Blocked
A massive landslide triggered by heavy rains near Kulshekar has completely blocked the Mangalore Junction-Mumbai railway line. The landslide occurred around 11 a.m. on July 16, Friday at the Kulashekar tunnel between Mangalore Junction and Jokatte railway stations. Southern Railway’s Palakkad division has deployed men and machinery to clear the block even as it was uncertain how fast the debris could be cleared. Though the railway department had constructed a retainer wall near the track, the mud from the landslide fell on the tracks as the size of the hill that collapsed was quite huge.
