MCC Installs CCTV Cameras in Mangalore: Much Needed To Stop People From Littering Waste Around

The Mangalore City Corporation [MCC]has taken up a stand and started acting against litterbugs to make the city free based on CCTV footage. CCTV Cameras have been placed at various places, especially near the Central Market, where heaps of waste is dumped every day.

MCC senior health inspector Kiran Giridhar said that the city corporation has installed CCTV cameras at 12 locations in the city near the black spots where people dump waste. He mentioned that the initiative will continue till all black spots are converted into clean areas. Other than Central Market, CCTV cameras were placed at the Old Port and other areas, where people dump waste carelessly.

The surveillance team found a street vendor dumping waste near the Central Market premises. Accordingly, a notice was served to him, but instead of paying the penalty, he abused the officials at the MCC office. Hence, a police complaint was filed. Other than paying a penalty, the violators have given a written undertaking, that they will not repeat the mistake.
