MCC Needs To Find An Alternate Site For Dumping Waste: Is Pacchanady Not Suitable Anymore?

January 30: State chief secretary T M Vijay Bhaskar visited the Pachchanady landfill dumping yard on Wednesday. He has directed Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) authorities to find an alternative spot to dispose of the city’s solid waste as Pachchanady is not technically suitable any more for continued dumping of waste.

Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said that tonnes of waste slid down from the Pachchanady landfill during monsoon and entered human inhabited areas. A high-level technical team that had visited the area has reported that the design of the place is not suitable for dumping waste.
said that Abandoned stone quarries are ideal for dumping waste and directed the officials to find such land.
