Mosquito breeding in Mangalore: Rs 65000 fine collected in a day!
July 25: The Mangalore City Corporation has started its drive against mosquito breeding, as dengue cases have increased in the city. The MCC has been collecting fine from owners of places which gives scope for mosquito breeding and creating conditions that help spread of vector-borne diseases.
The MCC in this drive collected Rs 65,000 as fine from building owners in the city for creating conditions that help mosquito breeding which inturn leads to vector- borne diseases.
The officers from MCC inspected three vacant sites and 17 under-construction buildings to check if the conditions there support mosquito-breeding. The fine amount collected from building owners varied from Rs 5,000 to Rs 10,000.The MCC officers continue the drive to destroy the sources of mosquito-breeding and undertake fogging in various places.
