Need to Implement This Regarding Veerarani Abbakka – The Pride of Coastal Districts

September 5: Veerarani Abbakka Utsava Samiti has urged the government to establish Veerarani Abbakka Bhavana. Veerarani Abbakka Utsava reception committee President K Jayarama Shetty said that Rs 5 crore had been allocated in the budget for Abbakka Bhavana, during the tenure of former Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda in 2012-13, but the Bhavana has not been built yet.
He also urged that Mangalore International Airport is named  after Rani Abbakka. Jayarama Shetty mentioned that there is a need to develop Ullal-Someshwara, the place of Rani Abbakka, as a famous tourist destination. Along with this he also stressed on Abbakka Museum, Smaraka Bhavana and Theme Park to be built in Ullal. One train from Mangalore should be renamed as Abbakka Express. Abbakka’s life and achievements should be included in the school syllabus, he urged.
