No Scarcity of Drinking Water in Mangalore City This Summer: Mayor Manoj Kumar
Mangalore Mayor Manoj Kumar informed that the city might not face drinking water scarcity this summer. ‘Ganga Puje’ was offered to the Netravathi, at Thumbe Dam, after which the Mayor said that the inflow in the river to the dam has not stopped. Water at the dam has now been stored upto 6m high. If the catchment area of the Netravathi receive rains in April and May, the city corporation need not go for water rationing. Storing water on some other vented dams built on the upstream of Thumbe dam will also help the corporation get water from those dams in case of scarcity.
The Mayor said that the corporation will be able to supply round-the-clock drinking water once the ongoing Jalasiri project is completed and a water treatment plant is built at Adyar.
