Normal rainfall expected: Relief to paddy farmers in coastal districts

June 27: A phone-in programme was organised by Prajavani at DH-PV Editorial Office in Balmatta on Wednesday. Agriculture department Joint Director Seetha and Horticulture department Deputy Director H R Nayak were responding to the queries at the phone-in programme.
Agriculture department Joint Director Seetha said that Paddy farmers need not worry on delay in monsoon and they can transplant seedlings up to August 15 as IMD predicted normal rainfall in the days to come.
She mentioned that there is time for transplantation of paddy seedlings and the farmers can opt for short duration paddy variety. Paddy can be cultivated with less water as well by providing water during the critical period, she added.
