Not Only Fashion Houses But Even Farmers Can Use Mannequin: Proved by a Farmer at Karkala

October 15: A farmer has installed a Mannequin at his farm in order to scare a pride of peafowls (comprising peacocks, peahens and peachicks) from destroying his farm at Sankalakariya in Karkala taluk. The Peacocks were not only eating the vegetables but had also uprooted the plants.

The farmer, Aulin Serrao has used a mannequin as a scarecrow  with a shirt and trousers to scare away peacock and other wild animals. Aulin Serrao, had earlier mounted a banner containing the photograph of a ferocious tiger due to which he had succeeded in scaring away monkeys from destroying the yield in his farm.
Aulin is engaged in farming for many years now and has been cultivating ‘Harive’ (Amaranth), okra (Lady’s Finger), long yard beans, Brahmi, drumstick and other vegetables on his farm. As the farm land was been located on the banks of River Shambhavi, he was at the receiving end due to the menace of wild animals.
He said the peacocks cannot be killed but can be chased with scare-tactics. The Mannequin was donated to him by his friend and has used it as a scarecrow which has has yielded results.
