One Must Visit Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple on October 26: Here is The Reason
October 21: Kudroli Sri Gokarnanatha Temple will brighten up on October 26 as the 20th annual ‘Gududeepa Pantha’ will be organised by Namma Kudla, local Tulu TV news channel. Competition will be held in special, traditional and modern varieties of ‘gududeepa’.
Director of Namma Kudla, Harish B Karkera, said the event started in a small way in 1996 with just 36 entries but on an average in the past 19 years has seen more than 350 ‘gududeepa’ being exhibited.
A massive interest in households to build the ‘gududeepa’ in a traditional manner for Deepavali has started. He also mentioned that last year attracted more than 400 ‘gududeepa’s.
Top two winners in each of these categories will receive gold medal each and third placed contestant, a silver medal. In addition, there are also special consolation prizes for ‘gududeepas’ that attract attention of the jury. Along with this, all participants will receive a memento, packet of sweets as well as ‘prasad’ from the temple.
Karkera mentioned that the event will be telecast live on the Namma Kudla.
