Online Property Tax Payment Facility by MCC Shows Error in Data: Citizens Worried

The online property tax payment facility by the Mangalore city corporation is a people friendly initiative, there is fear and confusion among the citizens. There are few errors in the data like the name of the property owner, no entry of the previous years tax paid which has made the citizens worry as the correcting the details would take a very long time due to the long queue at MCC.

There are over two lakh properties including around 5,000 apartments in the city limits. Though the online system of property tax payment was introduced on November 1, 2021, the database on properties in the city available with the MCC website is incomplete. Most of the accounts do not have details of the khata change with the new owners’ names.

MCC commissioner Akshy Sridhar stated ” We have been working on updating the data and a survey on properties in the city is also being carried out by the MCC”. On errors in the names and other details, the commissioner said that property owners may correct it by visiting the MCC office.
