Operation Tiger of Evicting Illegal Street Vendors to Continue For Next One Year: Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur

Mangalore city Mayor Sudheer Shetty Kannur informed that Operation Tiger of evicting illegal footpath vendors and street food sellers will continue for the next one year. The contract for carrying out Operation Tiger was given to an agency for one year.

The Mangalore City Corporation (MCC) has already identified 33 vending zones within the city limits. A vending zone has already been created near the State Bank bus stand in the city. It will  be inaugurated and 93 street vendors will be accommodated. The vending zone has electricity, drinking water, and other facilities for the convenience of vendors and visitors. While the MCC has identified 667 vendors, the city corporation will issue identity cards and allow them to carry out business in vending zones once they submit the affidavit to the city corporation.

Rekha J Shetty, zonal commissioner, said that separate space will be allotted to vendors who sell flowers, fancy items, food, fruits, and vegetables.
