Outstanding Work by The Neonatal Team at Father Mullers Hospital: Preterm Baby Born at 25 Weeks Survives
The neonatal team of Father Muller Medical College Hospital has done an amazing job by saving a preterm baby, born at 25 weeks + 6 days of gestational age with birth weight of just 669 grams. Loyden, born on June 26 was very weak and durng the initial intensive care his weight dropped below 600 grams. He is the youngest (most premature) and one of the lowest weighing babies to survive with such prematurity, at the hospital.
The team led by neonatologist Dr Mario Bukelo has put in all efforts to save the baby. Dr Mario Bukelo said that “Survival of such premature infants is always a challenge and requires a team effort. Loyden’s graduation out of NICU after 90 days speaks volumes of the dedicated service of the neonatologist, Neonatal nurses and post-graduates at Father Mullers NICU.” He is the first baby born at the Father Muller Hospital to survive so young at just 25weeks and 6 days and after an intensive care period of 90 days.
