Parallel track at Kulashekara to be Completed Soon: Train Services to Start Again

August 29: Work on parallel track for about 400 m on the landslip-affected Kulashekara stretch on the Mangalore-Mumbai line to be completed by Thursday noon, August 29. Southern Railway authorities are hopeful of to restoring the train traffic that was suspended since Friday last.
Pratap Singh Shami, Southern Railways Palakkad Divisional Railway Manager arrived in Mangalore on Wednesday to check the progress in the restoration work and said that the parallel track could be ready by Thursday evening if it does not rain heavily.
He mentioned that enough men and machinery have been deployed for the restoration work, but it is difficult to work when there is rain as the water flowing through the adjacent hillock, which cannot be controlled.
