Passenger From Ghana Tests Covid Positive at Mangalore Airport: Safety Measures Taken by The DC

A passenger who arrived at the Mangalore International Airport from Ghana which is high risk nation has tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus, during the rapid RT-PCR test. Following this, deputy commissioner K V Rajendra held an emergency meeting with the airport chief officer Nirav Shah, airport health officers, district surveillance officer, district nodal officer for Covid-19, and the chief of the Apollo lab at Mangalore airport.

The DC confirmed that the said passenger has been isolated in the district Wenlock Hospital from Friday night and that he is asymptomatic. As many as 27 passengers sitting in the front three rows ahead of him, and three rows behind him have been treated as primary contacts, and they have been made to undergo the rapid RT-PCR test, and have been quarantined  by the health department.
