Path-Breaking Results Once Again By CFAL: Check Out

October 17: Around 60 students from CFAL Qualify in the Pre-Regional Mathematical Olympiad (PRMO)Exam (Phase -2).
In what we call path-breaking results, around 60 CFAL students (in both the categories) have cleared the PRMO Exam – Phase 2. The PRMO is conducted in two categories, namely for Class 8-11 and Class 12. The icing on the cake is that 5 of their students are the toppers in Phase 2 of PRMO in Class VIII-XI category. It may be recalled that due to unprecedented weather conditions, PRMO exams were conducted in Phase 2 on August 25, 2019 in Bagalkot, Vijayapura, Belagavi, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Shivamoga, Chikamangaluru, Dharward, Hassan and Kodagu districts of Karnataka and in states of Maharashtra, Gujarat, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Kerala.

Overall 62% of the total selections from Karnataka in PRMO, Phase 2 are CFAL students. The qualified students now advance to the Regional Mathematical Olympiad, the second round of International Mathematical Olympiad which is conducted by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE). In Class 8-11 category about 476 students (from Phase 1 &2) and in Class 12 category around 97 students (from Phase 1 &2) are appearing in the RMO examination from Karnataka. The RMO examination in all regions (except Maharashtra & Goa) will be held on October 20, 2019.

About PRMO
The Mathematical Olympiad Programme in India, which leads to participation of Indian students in the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO), is organized by the Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education (HBCSE) on behalf of the National Board for Higher Mathematics (NBHM) of the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE), Government of India.
PRMO is the Stage 1 of the International Mathematical Olympiad (IMO). It is a 3-hour examination with 30 questions held in different centres across India. Based on the performance of students in the PRMO, qualified students from Class 8th- 12th then move on to the next stage which is the Regional Mathematical Olympiad (RMO).
CFAL – Scripting success stories
CFAL at Mangalore has been creating and recreating history with its results in various STEM related exams. However, what stands out as an exceptional achievement for them is the fact that their students have done tremendously well at the Olympiads. Their student, Aditya Prakash from CFAL represented India at the International Math Olympiad, a first in Karnataka after 21 years. Besides, Prathyush Poduval had won a silver medal at the International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics in IOAA 2018. It 2019, their student Shreyas Pai was the topper in India at the Biology Olympiad Camp held at HBCSE.
