People Getting BPL Cards Using False Information? DK District Administration to File Criminal Case

October 17: N Manjunath Prasad, principal secretary, revenue department  and district secretary on Wednesday directed the district administration to file criminal cases under IPC Section 420 against those who have obtained ration cards under BPL category by submitting false information.
Prasad termed this as an inexcusable offence and has directed the officials of department of food and civil supplies to lodge complaints. He said that the ineligible should surrender BPL cards to the Department of Food and Civil Supplies.
While chairing a review meeting organised at the Netravathy Hall of the Zilla Panchayat on Wednesday, Prasad said that the state government has already issued to people having fraudulently BPL cards to surrender them. A final deadline should be given to such families to return their cards, failing to which department will identify such families and take legal action against them.
