Police Commissioner to Launch ‘My Beat, My Pride,’ in the City: Click to Know

August 16: Mangalore City Police Commissioner  PS Harsha is all set to launch an upgraded beat system in city police limits. This new beat system will be called ‘My Beat, My Pride,’ and will be launched on August 16, Friday.
The proposed system will be unique where all the police officers including the city police commissioner will unite and walk the beat with the designated constable. This is done to get a first-hand feel of their problems.
Commissioner P S Harsha said that the new system strives to empower constables and further strengthen the beats. Under this campaign, all officers from the commissioner up to the police sub-inspectors at the station level will join the beat constables at least once a month, he mentioned.
Commissioner also mentioned that this campaign will make police constables station house officers of their respective beats. This will also help to understand the difficulties of beat constables on ground and help them in decision making.
Division and unit-wise WhatsApp broadcast groups will be created so that the police chief reach all constables within five minutes. The citizens will also get a chance to be  part of this beat whenever they are free.
