October 21: Deepavali is just a week away and people would love to celebrate the festival with their families. Highest numbers of Mangaloreans who are working in Bangalore will also travel back home to celebrate Diwali. The Bangalore- Mangalore route is expected to be the busiest.
This will increase the demand for private bus tickets from Bangalore to Mangalore. Keeping in mind the increase in demand for tickets private operators have again encashed this opportunity have already increased bus fares.

There will be a slight rise in bus fares on October 24, but the big impact
will be noticed on October 25 and 26. Generally, the bus fare in a non-AC sleeper bus that is around 600, but is expected to cost double the price on October 25. Few private bus operators are charging Rs 1,800- Rs 2,100 per ticket. The fares continue to remain high on the next day too, but start reducing from October 27, which gets back to normal gradually. Similarly, from Mangalore to Bangalore private bus fares will record a rise on October 29 where the tickets are costing above Rs 1,000 as people are expected to return to Bangalore from Mangalore on October 29 and 30.
At the same time, KSRTC has decided to operate at least 100 additional buses. A senior KSRTC officer from Mangalore division said that on October 25 and 26, the demand is high from Bangalore while on October 29 and 30 the demand for buses is high from Mangalore.
