Rain In October: These Many Houses Damaged in Dakshina Kannada
October 24: The recent spell of rains since October 18 has damaged several properties in Dakshina Kannada. While 33 houses have been partially damaged, nine have been severely damaged.
Deputy commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh said that she ha received the information from respective Tahsildars regarding the damage. Even though there has been damage in the properties there has been no loss of life, including those of animals.
The revenue authorities have initiated the process of providing compensation to the affected families through the Rajiv Gandhi Rural Housing Corporation Ltd as per the revised norms announced by chief minister BS Yediyurappa.
The corporation is transferring compensation amount to bank accounts of people who have lost their dwellings through RTGS following norms of GPS tagging and uploading picture of the same to its portal.
Out of these 229, 179 and 142 victims have been provided compensation of Rs 2.27 crore, Rs 44 lakh and Rs 35.39 lakh respectively, DC mentioned.
