Rangayana’s ‘Parva’ to be Staged in Mangalore on May 10: Click For Details
The 32nd show of Mysuru Rangayana play Parva – Maha Ranga Prayooga, which is based on S.L. Bhyrappa’s novel Parva, will be held in Mangalore’s Town Hall on May 10. The Rangayana has planned to stage this eight-hour long play across 50 places across the State. Director of Rangayana, Mysuru, Addanda C. Cariappa said that the the tickets will cost ₹200. The play will be staged by 35 Rangyana artistes between 10.30 a.m. and 7 p.m., with four breaks ranging between 10 and 30 minutes.
The process of bringing this popular novel on stage started following the relaxations after the first COVID-19 lockdown. The artistes at the State Government’s theatre repertory had several days of reading session on the novel. Theatre person and actor Prakash Belawadi wrote the drama script. Following approval by Mr. Byarappa, Rangyana choose to select artistes to come up with first-of-its kind eight-hour play, which has been directed by Mr. Belawadi. The tickets for the Mangalore show will be available at the office of the Kannada and Culture in the city and at the offices of Konkani, Tulu, and Beary Sahitya Academies.
