Rapid RT-PCR Test at Mangalore International Airport: Drastic Rise Covid in Positive Cases

The health department has noticed that the number of positive covid cases have increased after December at Mangalore international airport (MIA). The number of positive cases detected through rapid RT-PCR test at MIA have almost doubled in the last 45 days.

At the end of November, out of 30,344 passengers tested 48 of them turned out to be positive whereas, reports on January 10, reveals that 149 passengers tested positive out of 44,013 passengers. . All those who tested positive during rapid RT-PCR tests, carried Covid negative RT-PCR certificates, conducted 48 hours before they could board the flight. The rapid RT-PCR test is a more sensitive test compared to the normal RT-PCR test. Also, a person can be infected after giving his swab for a RT-PCR test.
