Red Alert Issued in Twin Districts Due To Heavy Rainfall For Next Few Days

Heavy to very heavy rainfall has been predicted for the next five days in the coastal districts. A Red alert for heavy rain has been announced in several parts of the Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts on Wednesday even as moderate to heavy rain lashed some parts of the two districts on Monday. The coastal districts likely to receive heavy rain ranging between 100 mm and 150 mm. This is because of the cyclonic circulation over the Lakshadweep Islands area and over the North Tamil Nadu coast.

The India Meteorological Department has said that heavy to very heavy rainfall or thunderstorm will continue to occur in the coastal districts till May 20 from when the rain is likely to lose its vigour. The department has said that there will be heavy rainfall or thunderstorm on May 21 and 22 in the three districts where rainfall has exceeded 65 mm.
