November 12: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy commissioner Sindhu Rupesh chaired the district road safety committee meeting on Monday, November 11. DC Sindhu has directed the officials to take the required measures to reduce road accidents.
The measures which will be taken for road safety are construction of permanent barricade in accident prone areas, filling up of potholes and ensuring that streetlights are functional. DC also said that officials must take steps to ensure that the roads are in proper condition. Along with this, safety precautions must be adopted on all roads in the district identified as accident prone.
DC Sindhu said that a control room has been set up to monitor functioning of government ambulances. Private ambulances too should be mapped to this control room through use of GPS. DC also directed the regional transport office must suspend driving licenses of motorists who have been responsible for such action after violating traffic rules.
DC has also suggested that Aadhar number should be mentioned on the driving licenses to prevent duplicate driving licenses.
