Sale Of Tobacco Banned Near Educational Institutions: Strict Rule To Be Enforced

October 17: A meeting of the Tobacco Control Cell was chaired by Deputy Commissioner. During the meeting, DC Sindhu said that several youngsters are falling prey to tobacco products and there is a need to create awareness among the youth. She has urged officials to strictly enforce the ban on the sale of tobacco products in the vicinity of all educational institutions and tobacco products should not be sold within 100-metre radius of educational institutions.
She said that the NSS officers should create awareness on the ill-effects of tobacco products. Along with this, programmes relating to the ill-effects of tobacco consumption are being organised in schools and colleges.
She mentioned that Private medical colleges should set up tobacco cessation centre in the district. The ban on e-cigarette too should be implemented effectively, DC added.
