Scam 2021: Mangaloreans Be Aware of This Online Fraud

Many bank account holders in Mangalore have received messages informing that their bank account has been blocked for some reason and to unblock it, they have to click on the link sent along with the message. Once they click on the link, a website, similar to that of their bank will open asking them to upload their KYC documents and other details. Using this information, the fraudsters will go the bank’s official website and enter these details, after which OTP gets sent to the phone number linked to the accounts. The fraudsters then collect the OTP and withdraw money from the account holders.
Several account holders got suspicious about this and called the bank to confirm when they got to know about the fraud. SBI regional manager Harishankar, said that some of his customers have received such messages and some have called to verify, whereas some have lost money. banks never call their customers seeking OTP numbers.
