Sharan Pumpwell demands an apology from KPCC President Dinesh Gundu Rao: Know why?

April 8: Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) President Dinesh Gundu Rao recently compared Hindutva to drugs at a press conference in Congress Bhavan. Bajrang Dal Secretary Sharan Pumpwell, while addressing media at the VHP office in Mangalore, he warned of protest if Dinesh Gundu Rao did not apologise for his statements against Hindus.
Sharan Pumpwell said that State Government has withdrawn cases filed against Muslims, not Hindus. He condemned this act of the state government and demanded that cases filed against Hindu leaders should also be withdrawn.
He said on the night of December 5, 2014, hundreds of Muslim youth armed with lethal weapons had attacked an autorickshaw driver and had even molested women travelling in the vehicle. Along with this two men, who were wearing saffron shawls, travelling on a two-wheeler, were also attacked by the miscreants. Six of them had to be hospitalised. The rural police station had registered a case (422/2014) under a string of sections, including molestation, robbery and attempt to murder, on the mob, he said. Sharan said that police had flied two cases (426/14 and 428/14) against him and also against Rajashekarananda swami of Vajradehi Mutt, VHP State President M B Puranik and others for staging a protest against the attack in Vamanjoor the following day. He questioned why the cases slapped on him and other leaders have not been withdrawn while all cases against Muslims in Ulaibettu incident were withdrawn. He threatened that if the government failed to withdraw cases  filed on leaders of Hindu outfits, VHP would move to High Court.
