Shashi Kumar Completes a Year as Mangalore Commissioner: Several Cases Cracked During His Tenure
N Shashi Kumar has completed one year as Mangalore city police commissioner on December 29, Wednesday. He spoke to the media on the various prominent cases handled and cracked during his tenure so far in the city.
328 cases under NDPS were filed during the year and 492 have been arrested. Contraband worth Rs 85 lakhs including MDMA, ganja, Cocaine and LSD have been seized. Among those arrested were a few Nigerian nationals and an Oman national. He also informed about the arrest of a man in connection with the desecration of as many as 18 religious places He said 1,256 rowdy sheets were closed during the year while 315 new rowdy sheets were opened. He said as many as 304 cases were filed under Epidemic Act and 310 cases under NDM Act in the city commissionerate limits. A total of 25,145 mask rule violators have been fined, he informed.
