Social Media Monitoring Cell by Mangalore Police Commissioner Functioning Effectively Since Two Months

The social media monitoring cell of the city police commissionerate has been functioning for the last two months. The cell has been effectively monitoring all the major social media sites relating to law and order situation as well as communal harmony apart from issues concerning the state and the country.

The social media cell has succeeded in stopping a number of crimes and incidents which would have vitiated social harmony for the previous two months. They keeping close vigil on Facebook troll pages that are active in the social media and keeping close watch on criminal activities. A close watch is also kept on important people and pages as well as groups that are very active in social websites.

The staff working in the cell are being provided timely trainings on improvised trainings and use of modern technology. They are continuously coordinating with the city commissionerate, Dakshina Kannada district, Karnataka state and other organizations in the country.
