Some Relief for Mangaloreans: Drastic Decline in The Number of Malaria Cases This Year
When the district is more concerned about the covid pandemic, here is some relief as malaria cases have not hit the people hard this year. The Dakshina Kannada district witnessed a drastic decline in the number of malaria cases during the pandemic when Covid-19 was at its peak this year. The district had recorded 416 malaria cases between January and May in 2020, the number decreased to 277 for the corresponding period this year. The temperature and the weather of the coastal district is favourable for mosquito breeding, adding to which, there are more than 14,000 open wells in Mangalore city limits that are a major source of mosquito breeding.
