Soon There Will Be Surf Life Saving School In Dakshina Kannada: DC KV Rajendra

October 20: The Dakshina Kannada district administration will set up a Surf Life Saving School at the second entrance to Tannirbhavi beach. The school is about teaching sea swimming skills for rescuing people. Deputy Commissioner K.V. Rajendra  said that the Surf Life Saving School will come up shortly in the district.
Swimming coach Partha Varanashi, Director of Surflife Saving (India), which is affiliated to Rashtriya Life Saving Society (India), who proposed the surf life saving school, said that having the school will help in conducting life saving skill training on a regular basis. So far Surflife Saving (India) has trained 38 people in surf life saving at Tannirbhavi of which six have taken part in international surf life saving competitions. It trained 200 children in Udupi and 300 youths in Karwar in 2016. From October, Surflife Saving (India) is conducting one-hour training sessions on the Tannirbhavi beach starting at 7.30 a.m. on Sundays.
